Plenty of Cleveland families already make the drive to Anvil K9, and there is a reason for that. When your dog pulls you down the street, lunges at other dogs, bolts out the door, or simply will not listen, you do not need another weekly class. You need a dog that is actually trained, and you need to know how to keep it that way. That is what a board and train delivers.
Anvil K9 is a veteran owned, NePoPo Gold certified board and train program. Your dog lives and trains with a professional for the full program, then comes home with reliable obedience built in and a structured handoff that teaches you how to hold the standard. We are based near Chattanooga and we work with Cleveland and Bradley County owners regularly.

Why Cleveland owners drive to a real board and train
Cleveland has daycares, boarding resorts, and play ranches. Those are good at what they do, which is exercise and supervision. They are not the same as a structured training program that fixes behavior and builds obedience that holds up under real distractions.
That gap is exactly why Cleveland families come to us. A board and train is full immersion. Your dog gets structured reps every single day from someone who trains dogs for a living, not a few rushed minutes squeezed into a busy week. The learning curve sits with us, not with you. You step in once the foundation is solid, and we show you how to run it.
Cleveland is a short drive, and because your dog stays with us for the program, that drive is a one time thing at drop off and pickup, not a daily commute. For results that actually last, it is worth the trip.
Two programs. Choose by your dog’s age.
We run two board and train programs and nothing else. The right one comes down to how old your dog is.
3 Week Board and Train, $3,000
For adult dogs 16 weeks and older. This is the program most Cleveland owners come to us for. In three weeks your dog builds reliable obedience, loose leash walking, and structured off leash work, plus real behavior modification for the everyday problems: reactivity, jumping, door and gate bolting, and flat out not listening. Full details are on the 3 Week Board and Train page.
6 Week Puppy Board and Train, $6,000
For puppies starting at 12 weeks old. Six weeks during the most important development window a dog will ever have: socialization done right, foundation obedience, crate and house manners, and impulse control, so you are not undoing bad habits a year from now. See the puppy program for the full breakdown.
Adult dog, the 3 Week is your starting point. Puppy, the 6 Week is the foundation that makes everything easier later. You can compare both side by side on our board and train page. If your dog is right on the line between the two, tell us the age on your consultation and we will give you the honest call.
What your dog comes home knowing
Every dog is different, but a finished Anvil K9 graduate reliably:
- Walks on a loose leash without dragging you
- Holds a place and a down while life happens around them
- Comes when called, including off leash with real distractions
- Greets people without jumping
- Settles instead of reacting at the door, on walks, and around other dogs
- Lives in the house with manners instead of chaos
We are honest about what training can and cannot do. Board and train builds obedience and changes behavior. It does not erase genetics, and it does not replace the work you do at home after. That is why the handoff matters as much as the training itself.
The handoff is the part that makes it last
A trained dog handed back to an untrained owner slides backward fast. So before your dog goes home, you get a structured turnover session where we show you how to give commands, how to hold a standard, and how to handle the moments that used to go wrong. You leave the drive home with a dog that listens and the know how to keep it that way.
The Anvil K9 method
We train on NePoPo Gold, a balanced method built on motivation, clear markers, structured consequences, and the release of pressure. It is fair to the dog and it holds up in the real world, not just in a quiet training room. You can read more on our training method page. The short version: the dog understands what is being asked and chooses to do it, which is what makes the results stick.
Financing with Affirm
Good training is an investment, and we make it easier to move forward. We offer financing through Affirm, so you can start the 3 Week or 6 Week program now and pay over time in predictable monthly payments. We will walk through your options on your consultation.
Veteran owned, and accountable to you
Anvil K9 is owned by Jake Mumford, a veteran who built this program on the standard he was held to: do the work, tell the truth, own the result. We are NePoPo Gold certified, which means the method is structured and proven, not improvised. When you hand us your dog, you are handing it to someone who treats the outcome as a responsibility. More on that on our about page.
